A motorcyclist and a car collided at 8:55 p.m near Newland and Heil Avenue Thursday evening. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
It was reported the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Heil Avenue and the vehicle was northbound on Newland when they collided in the intersection. Which vehicle may have run a red light was not immediately known.
A witness in a vehicle near the intersection reported he saw the motorcyclist do a wheelie and come back down before the accident. He further stated the motorcyclist had plenty of time to stop but may have failed to do so for an unknown reason.
