How to Get There: To visit Mussel Cove, take Pacific Coast Highway (CA 1) to North El Camino Real (CA 74), then turn west toward Sunset Drive. Continue west until you reach South El Camino Real and turn north (left). Follow South El Camino Real until you reach a stop sign at Madre Street. Turn right onto Madre Street and follow it until you see Mussel Rock Way on your left-hand side.

Surrounded by seaside cottages, this little cove is ideal for picnicking or a stroll. In the summer, it's the perfect spot to catch a sunset. Take a walk on the Coastal Trail and make your way down to the beach.

Mussel Cove is a small beach located just north of San Juan Creek in the city of San Juan Capistrano, California. The shoreline is protected by a rocky outcrop which makes the cove a good place to swim without risking impact with submerged rocks and boulders. The cove is also popular with snorkelers and scuba divers, who can explore the kelp forests that are found in the cove's depths.

The beach is named for its abundance of mussels, which can be found on every rock and piece of driftwood on the shoreline. The mussel population has been negatively impacted by overfishing and environmental degradation, however, so it's best to refrain from harvesting or disturbing them in any way.
