Calafia Beach Park

Located on the beautiful shores of the Pacific Ocean, Calafia Beach Park is one of the most popular beaches in Orange County. Calafia Beach Park offers a wide variety of water activities, such as surfing, swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, and windsurfing. The park also features a man-made lagoon designed especially for children. Visitors can enjoy picnic areas, concessions, and restrooms at this beach park.

Calafia Beach Park is a beach located in San Clemente, CA. It is one of the most popular beaches in Orange County and is also known as Calafia State Beach because it is managed by the California State Parks system. The name Calafia was derived from the legendary Moorish Queen, Calafia, who ruled over a kingdom in what is now California.

Calafia Beach Park offers a variety of activities for visitors. Surfers can visit the beach to ride waves year-round, with the best times being during the winter and spring months. Visitors can walk along the shoreline to admire native and migratory birds, sea animals, and plant life that inhabit the area. A children's pier has been constructed at Calafia Beach Park for young children to explore the ocean in a safe environment. The pier also includes a small sandy beach for young children and families to enjoy.

The south end of Calafia Beach has picnic tables available for use as well as barbecue pits for visitors to enjoy. A campground located near this area provides visitors with a place to stay overnight during their visit to Calafia Beach Park. The campground offers tent sites as well as RV sites with full hookups including water, sewer, and electricity.

At 1.5 miles long, Calafia Beach Park is a great spot for families to spend the day. The beach runs along the oceanfront and is a golden brown color. It is bordered on both sides by grassy park areas. The large grassy area in the middle of the beach offers plenty of room for kids to run around or games such as Frisbee and badminton. A shallow lagoon is located on the north side of the beach and next to it, a small patch of sand offers a relaxing spot to soak up some sun. Lifeguard towers are stationed at both ends of the beach with lifeguards providing protection from 9 am-5 pm daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekends and from 10 am-4 pm daily during the rest of the year.

The park also offers a playground area for children, restrooms, showers, and picnic tables. The picnic area is located directly across from the playground and has a large grassy area that can be used for picnics or group gatherings. There are several restaurants within walking distance including Ruby's Diner, McDonald's, Taco Bell, KFC, Subway, Carl's Jr., Wendy's, Starbucks Coffee Shop, and Pizza Hut.
