The San Clemente Pier is one of the best places to spend your time in Southern California. It is a beautiful area that offers a variety of things to do, from shopping to eating to enjoying some of the best waves off of any Southern California beach.

The Surfing Heritage and Culture Center (SHCC) was established in 2000 by Dr. Jack Goodykoontz, who served as its first executive director. Located at 2727 S. Pacific Coast Highway in San Clemente, the SHCC was created with an aim to honor the heritage and history of surfing through exhibits and educational programs.

Surfing Heritage and Culture Center is a museum of surf culture located in San Clemente, California. The museum features exhibits about the sport's history and its place in pop culture. It is owned by the city of San Clemente and operated by the non-profit Surfing Heritage Foundation.

Exhibits at the Center include vintage surfboards, photographs, graphics, and surf music. There are also rotating exhibits that showcase contemporary artists and designers. Temporary exhibits have included work by noted surf artists Robert August, Todd Glaser, Craig Stecyk, Matt Biolos, and professional surfers Kelly Slater and Rob Machado.

The museum is housed in a two-story building on Pacific Coast Highway in downtown San Clemente. The ground floor displays historic artifacts such as vintage surfboards, photographs, graphics, and surf music. The upper floor features rotating art exhibits showcasing contemporary artists and designers along with a gift shop featuring items reflecting Southern California's surf heritage.

In 2005 San Clemente resident Mike Wallace formed the Surfing Heritage Foundation with the goal of bringing together people from all walks of life through surfing and preserving Southern California's surfing heritage for future generations.

A weekend surf lesson, or a few hours in the surf school, is all you need to get started surfing. But once you've gotten the hang of it, it's time to start thinking about your next move -- and that's when San Clemente Surf School can help.

Surfing Heritage and Culture Center (SHCC) is designed to educate surfers and non-surfers alike on the history, culture, and lifestyle of surfing. This one-of-a-kind facility will both educate and inspire everyone who comes through its doors.

SHCC is part museum, part retail shop, part educational center, and part surfboard builder all rolled into one. The result is an environment that celebrates the history, art and culture of surfing while providing visitors with everything they need to become skilled at this sport.

Visitors will be able to explore SHCC's interactive exhibits and displays to learn about the cultural significance of surfing as well as its physical practice. SHCC offers surfers a chance to get creative by building their own boards out of reclaimed materials as well as an opportunity to develop new skills by taking classes in board maintenance and repair.
