Three Injured in Bus-Van Crash in Santa Ana

 

Around 1:15 pm on Monday, a school bus and a minivan collided in Santa Ana resulting in injuries.

It was reported that a Toyota Sienna failed to yield for a stop sign heading north on Daisy Avenue at Willits Street and slammed into a school bus traveling west on Willits. The minivan may have been going 40 to 50 mph before the crash and the bus was traveling about 20 mph. The collision resulted in the bus careening through a fence and into a yard.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, and as many as four children may have been injured. The extent of the injuries is unknown.

Four Injured After Car Crashes Into Highland Park Apartment Building

 

Around 10:26 pm Saturday, a black Jeep SUV crashed and flipped into an apartment building at York Boulevard and San Pascual Avenue.

Four people were injured and three of those were critically injured. The three people critically injured were in the vehicle that crashed while a woman in the building sustained minor injuries.

The multi-story apartment building was yellow-tagged by building inspectors to check for damage to the structural integrity of the building.

Suv Driver Crashes Into Baldwin Hills House, Killing a Woman Inside

 

An incident which began around 1:20 am ended when an SUV crashed into a house in Baldwin Hills, severing a gas line, and killing an 86-year-old-woman and seriously injuring a 93-year-old man.

The couple, Aida Villavicencio and her husband, had been married for 66 years.

The incident began earlier when the SUV rear-ended a police cruiser while on patrol at Hobart Boulevard and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The SUV fled northbound on Western Avenue and officers pursued. It ended with the car crashing into the home near 39th St & Buckingham Road.

Paulina Zamudio who also lives in the home with her parents was not injured.

The driver of the SUV was identified as 26-year-old Eliseo Ixchopcalel.  He was injured and taken to the hospital.  He was also booked on gross vehicular manslaughter charges.

Martin Hernandez Killed in Motorcycle Accident on Chino Hills Parkway

 

Last Saturday morning, a man was killed when his motorcycle and a car collided on Chino Hills Parkway, west of Pipeline Avenue. 44-year-old Martin Hernandez was a social worker and a widowed father of two children.

Mr. Hernandez was riding a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle when it collided with a 2019 Nissan driven by an 81-year-old woman from Chino Hills making a left turn out of a shopping center parking lot. It was reported that Mr. Hernandez applied his brakes but was unable to stop and collided with the driver's side of the Nissan. Mr. Hernandez died at the scene.

The collision is being investigated by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

Garden Grove Man Dies After Car Ends Up Beneath Tractor Trailer

 

Around 4:50 am Sunday, a collision occurred when a driver of a Lexus heading westbound on the 91, east of Green River Road, ended up beneath a tractor trailer. The driver, identified as Phat Tran of Garden Grove, was transported to Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana after suffering fatal injuries from the crash.  He died within a few hours.

The crash is under investigation.

Phat Tran was 25 years old.

Man Crashes Speeding SUV Into Wall in Santa Ana

 

Around 10:20 pm Sunday, officers were preparing to make a traffic stop on a speeding SUV heading southbound on Lyon Street near Edinger Avenue in Santa Ana.

The driver next ran a red light at East St. Andrew Place and crashed into a small block wall which caused his vehicle to cross the roadway and impact a tree.

The driver was the only person in the SUV and was taken to a hospital with major injuries. He is expected to survive.

Hit & Run Driver Strikes Hydrant, Lands on Parked Car

 

Around 12:45 a.m. Friday morning, authorities were called to the scene of a hit-and-run driver.

At the 15800 block of Whittier Blvd, a vehicle took out a street pole and a fire hydrant before going airborne and landing on the back of a parked car in front of Casanova Furniture. When authorities arrived, the vehicle was abandoned and a 20 foot spray of water spewed into the street. The water was shut off by 2 a.m.

Information regarding the suspect is unknown.

One Killed in Westminster Crash That Mangled Five Cars

 

Around 2:30 am Saturday morning on McFadden Avenue and Swallow Lane in Westminster, a driver of a silver sedan died after crashing into a parked which then caused further cars to be damaged.

The driver may have reached speeds near 100 mph before crashing into the parked car, damaging four other vehicles, and totaling three of them. The driver, a man in his 20's, died.

The incident may have started less than two miles away in Santa Ana where the same driver may have been involved in a hit-and-run crash on McFadden Avenue and Newhope Street. A witness followed the vehicle and has tied the two incidents together.

Three-Vehicle Collision In Santa Clarita

 

Around 5:15 pm, an accident occurred near the intersection of Bouquet Canyon Road and Cinema Drive.

Three vehicles were involved in the accident.  One person was transported to a nearby trauma center.

The extent of the injuries are presently unknown, and no further details were available.

The accident is under investigation.

1 Killed in Crash on 73 Toll Road Near Newport Beach, Irvine Border

 

Around 3:55 pm, two vehicles collided on southbound 73 leaving one man dead.

According to witness reports, a white 2020 BMW 540i may have been speeding when it rear-ended a red 1959 Jaguar XK150 coupe.  Following the collision, the Jaguar struck a highway sign and rolled over several times.

The driver of the Jaguar sustained traumatic injuries and died at the scene.  The driver of the BMW, 19-year-old Erik Arakelyan of Glendale, sustained only minor injures after slamming into a concrete center divider.

The accident took place on the 73 between Irvine Avenue and Birch Street. Traffic was shutdown in both directions for about 4 hours while an investigation was conducted.

The driver of the BMW was arrested the next day on suspicion of causing the fatal crash.
