This area was previously known as "Marblehead Manor" because it was an estate named after Marblehead, Massachusetts. It was purchased by Charles Rathbun, who built a home here in 1905 that still stands today at 1707 Calle Barcelona.

The community area is made up of beaches and parks, including Pacific Park (formerly called "Crescent Bay Park") on the waterfront. There are also many residences with ocean views and beautiful landscapes of carefully manicured yards.

There is a shopping plaza near the corner of Avenida La Pata and Pacific Park Drive.

Marblehead is a community in San Clemente, California. The "neighborhood" of Marblehead is located at the westernmost end of San Clemente, between the ocean and I-5. It includes California State University, San Diego (CSUSD), which has been on its current campus since 1961, and which was previously housed in the now-demolished "Old Main." CSUSD is a commuter school with approximately 14,000 students enrolled; it is one of the largest universities in the nation in terms of enrollment but also has one of the highest graduation rates.

The compound is made up of several buildings, including the house, the Main House and the Pavilion. The main house has three bedrooms, four baths and an open floor plan kitchen/great room/dining room. The Main House includes a fireplace and an office/den.

The west wing of Marblehead has two bedrooms, one bath and an open floor plan living room and kitchen. The west wing can be rented separately from the main house.
